Solar radiation is stopped most effectively before it ever reaches the glass.
Solar control glass reduces heat gain, but it does so after the light has already entered the glass. An external louvre stops it before. The difference shows in summer, in the cooling load, and in winter, when an adjustable louvre can be opened to let the sun in.
We work with four categories of system fitted outside the joinery, in front of the glazing or of the opening: aluminium roller shutters, raffstore blinds with adjustable slats, Zipscreen blinds in technical fabric and security grilles. All of them can be operated and drawn out of sight when they are not needed.
Alongside these, we build aluminium shading systems on Cortizo profiles: solar shading louvres, fixed or adjustable, decorative louvre screens for masking parts of a façade, mallorquina shutters and terrace enclosures.
The Cortizo systems are aluminium, so technically they belong to the same family as the joinery. They appear here because they are chosen by function rather than by material — and each has a single technical page, in the systems catalogue.

What we agree before ordering
Façade orientation
South, east and west each call for a different solution. Horizontal louvres work on a south face; to the east and west, where the sun comes in low, vertical louvres perform better.
Fixed or adjustable
Fixed louvres are simpler and cheaper. Adjustable ones let you admit the sun in winter and shut it out in summer. The decision has consequences for the whole life of the building.
The free span
Each louvre profile has a declared maximum free span, beyond which it needs an intermediate support. We check it against the actual openings.
Wind resistance
Shading systems are declared on wind resistance. On tall buildings and exposed sites, that is the criterion which decides the configuration.
The operation
Manual or motorised, with local control or integrated into the building management system. It is decided before production.
The finish
The same coating and anodising range as the rest of the aluminium joinery, so that the façade reads as one.
