A good railing shows little and holds a great deal. Everything else is a question of fixings.
A railing is the one element on a balcony or a terrace that has to withstand a load nobody ever hopes to see. That is why the first question is not what it looks like, but what line load it carries and how it fixes into the structure.
We build railings on Cortizo systems, either with continuous glass and no posts in the line of sight, or with bars where the architecture asks for them. They fix to the face of the slab or to its edge, depending on how the floor was designed.
Each system below has its own technical page, with the permissible load, the accepted glass make-ups and the manufacturer’s original data sheet to download.
Systems
What we make
Four systems, with different fixings and a different visual presence. The figures on the cards are those from the official Cortizo data sheets.

How we choose
What we agree before ordering
Line load
This is the first figure to check, and it follows the use of the building. A railing in a home and one in a public space are not sized the same way.
Fixing method
On the face of the slab or on its edge. The decision follows the existing structure and how far the railing is meant to appear to float.
Glass make-up
Railing glass is laminated, in the make-ups the manufacturer declares for each system. We do not improvise thicknesses.
The handrail
With or without. Some configurations require one, others leave it optional. It is decided together with the system.
The finish
The aluminium is powder coated or anodised, in the same range as the rest of the joinery, so that the whole reads as one.
Installation
We install with our own teams. The fixing into the structure is checked on site, before anything is made.
