Kömmerling 70 AD

The 70 mm, five-chamber system with a double seal, for everyday domestic windows.

Kömmerling 70 AD – corner section of the PVC profile, official render

It is the system we propose when the budget matters but performance must not fall below current requirements. The 70 mm depth and the five-chamber construction cover an ordinary home without difficulty, and the profile stays slim enough for the window to let in plenty of light.

We use it routinely on flat and house refurbishments, where the existing opening does not allow a deeper frame and where passive-house performance is not required.

What the system brings

  • A linear, stepped design with a 70 mm installation depth
  • Five-chamber construction for good thermal insulation — Uf down to 1.2 W/(m²K)
  • Glazing thicknesses from 10 to 44 mm
  • Sound insulation can be improved by the choice of glazing unit
  • A robust profile construction, for reliable operation
  • Weather-resistant, easy-care surfaces

Colours and finishes

  • Classic white
  • Woodgrain foils, solid colours and metallic colours
  • Foiling on the outside only, white inside, or on both faces, depending on the version

The Uf values Kömmerling publishes are values of the profile, not of the installed window. The transmittance of an assembly (Uw) depends on the frame-to-glass ratio, on the glazing unit chosen and on the spacer used, and is established by calculation, on the actual dimensions of the opening.

Documentation

Certifications and testing

For the 70 mm platform, the range profine markets in France is called e.VOLUTION and has a Document Technique d’Application issued by CSTB. Below is the document, together with the qualification you need before using it in a specification.

What it covers
The procedure “TROCAL e.XCLUSIVE, KBE e.MOTION, KÖMMERLING e.VOLUTION”, in the family “Fenêtre à la française, oscillo battante ou à soufflet en PVC”: windows and French windows with 1, 2 or 3 leaves, with the option of aluminium cladding.

What we cannot demonstrate for this system

The name in the DTA is “KÖMMERLING e.VOLUTION”, while the version presented here is the double-sealing-gasket one from the international 70 mm range. The document describes the profiles by its own codes — frames 6158 and 6159, sash 6112 — and does not contain the trade name used on this page. We cannot demonstrate from the document that it is exactly the same profile, so we do not claim it: the correspondence is confirmed at order stage, on the profile codes actually supplied.

The document covers windows and French windows. It does not cover the entrance door, which has its own page and its own situation.

The documents above concern the profile system and are issued in the name of the profile manufacturer, not ours. They do not in themselves certify a window or a door made by MCV ProTrust: certification of a finished product — an A*E*V* classification or an ACOTHERM certificate, for instance — is obtained separately, on the manufacturing unit and on the configuration actually tested. When a project calls for such a document, we settle it before ordering.

What we do with this system

Choosing the version

The system offers a range; the project asks for a value. We settle the profile version, the glazing unit and the typology starting from the actual requirements of the building.

Calculation on the actual assembly

Uf is the value of the profile. The Uw of the window depends on the frame-to-glass ratio and we calculate it on the actual dimensions of the openings.

Hardware matched to the system

We work with hardware approved for the system. The burglar resistance class is achieved only with the matching hardware and build, not from the profile alone.

Installation and handover

We install with our own teams and hand the job over with its documents. The warranty is the one published on our warranties page.
